The results of the 2006 review confirm the continued presence of abertis in the Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) World and its selection for the European index, Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) STOXX.
For the 2006 review of DJSI World, which brings together the top 10% of global companies with the best criteria for corporate sustainability, 2,500 were invited to take part, of which 318 were finally selected from 24 countries, representing 20% of capitalization in each of their sectors.

For the sixth successive year, motorway operators acesa and aumar are collaborating with the Spanish authorities to smooth the way for the more than 75,000 travellers forecast to cross the Straits of Gibraltar from the Port of Alicante between June and September, some 8% more than last year, according to Spanish Ministry of the Interior figures.

The doctoral thesis Models of Discrete Choice of Transport with Random Coefficients, by Alfonso Orro Arcay, has won the 3rd abertis award. The research by this lecturer in the transport infrastructure and engineering area of the University of A Coruña represents a step forward in the development of mathematical models to predict individuals decisions in choosing between one means of transport and another.

Telecommunications and the Information and Knowledge Society (Telecomunicaciones y Sociedad de la Información y el Conocimiento) is the name of this seminar backed by the fundación abertis under the scientific coordination of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UCIIIM). The sessions take place on 28 and 29 March at the Universitys Leganés Campus and their goal is to offer different perspectives (technical, social, legal, economic and business) on the role and impact of telecommunications in todays society. For this reason, the seminar is targeted at students of and professionals in this field.

In 2005 there were 400 people killed and 204 seriously injured in traffic accidents on interurban roads, in Catalonia alone (Catalan traffic service figures). In Spain as a whole, these figures reached 3,329 deaths and 1,506 serious injuries. Until recently, experts attributed these tragedies to technical and structural problems, but there is an increasing tendency to point to the human factor as the main cause of accidents.
