The results of the 2006 review confirm the continued presence of abertis in the Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) World and its selection for the European index, Dow Jones Sustainability (DJSI) STOXX.
For the 2006 review of DJSI World, which brings together the top 10% of global companies with the best criteria for corporate sustainability, 2,500 were invited to take part, of which 318 were finally selected from 24 countries, representing 20% of capitalization in each of their sectors.
In the case of DJSI STOXX, the European index bringing together 20% of the top companies in terms of sustainability, 162 companies were finally selected from the 600 originally invited to take part.
The presence of abertis in both these international indexes is the result of continual hard work by the Group and the dedication of effort and resources to maintain the advances in sustainability as well as the development of good practice in economic, environmental and social ambits. abertis has channelled these actions through its Strategic Plan for Social Responsibility which it applies to its different business units.
This year abertis obtained higher than average scores in all three of the areas analysed: economic, environmental and social. It achieved a particularly positive result in the social area for aspects such as commitment and relations with interest groups, as well as the impact of its activity on society. In the environmental field, furthermore, it obtained very positive evaluation of its corporate strategy for climatic change and, in general, its policy for environmental information. The results of the DJSI World and DJSI STOXX reviews will come into effect as from 18th September 2006.
