Abertis manages Puerto Rico’s Teodoro Moscoso Bridge and, through the Metropistas consortium, the PR-22 and PR-5 toll roads. A road safety campaign will be held on these routes to inform and raise awareness about the importance of responsible driving. In the second phase of the campaign, awareness raising messages will target the youngest members of the population, who are currently pedestrians and future drivers.
Abertis CEO Francisco Reynés handed out information leaflets at the toll road during an institutional visit to Puerto Rico. He explained, “The Abertis Foundation’s road safety programme is extremely effective in Spain, and we believe it is important to extend it to the other countries where Abertis operates”.
The first phase is a continuation of the Spanish campaign “You’ve got one life left. Don’t lose it on the road”, which raises awareness about the most dangerous driving behaviours (using a mobile phone, consuming drugs and alcohol and not wearing a seat belt).
The campaign’s second phase is aimed at children between the ages of 6 and 12 and will be held in the Road Safety Education Park (PESET). The park features a model city where children can ride bicycles while learning the general rules to bear in mind when behind the wheel.
