The CTFC Forest Bioeconomy research group meets at the UNESCOMED Center

Maricarmen Romera,

The Forest Bioeconomy research group (BIOFOR) of the Forest Science and Technology Center of Catalonia (CTFC) has met at Castellet Castle, headquarters of the UNESCOMED Center. The group has the double goal of advancing the design and implementation of transformative models of the bioeconomy and of resilient landscapes to the effects of climate change as well as promoting knowledge transfer at the Mediterranean scale through UNESCOMED and the MedMaB network.

The BIOFOR research group was recognized by the Department of Research and Universities of the Generalitat de Catalunya with the program of Support to Research Groups (SGR), which aims to promote activities to strengthen the scientific, economic, and social impact of research, as well as to promote its international projection.

The CTFC's SGR in Forest Bioeconomy is formed by a multi- and interdisciplinary research group that combines biosciences, engineering, and social sciences to design and implement transformative models of bioeconomy, understood as a circular and sustainable economic model based on the use of renewable and local biological resources to produce goods and services in all economic sectors.
