The Board of Trustees of the abertis foundation, at the proposal of its President, Salvador Alemany, has approved the appointment of three new members as trustees of the Foundation. They are Miquel Roca, Leopoldo Rodés and José Manuel Basáñez, who will form part of the highest governing body of the Foundation following the meeting of the Board of Trustees held yesterday.
Following these appointments, the Board of Trustees of the abertis foundation is now made up of the following members:
Miquel Roca has a degree in Law and is a Partner and Chairman of the Roca Junyent legal practice. As a lawyer he has extensive experience in legal practice, which he began more than forty years ago. He was also Member for Barcelona and President of the Catalan Parliamentary Group in the Spanish Parliament from 1977 to 1995. In the social arena, he is President of the Barcelona Economic Society of Friends of the Country, Vice-President of the Barcelona Cultura Foundation, President of the National Art Museum of Catalonia, Honorary President of the University of Barcelona Alumni and Life Trustee of the Gala-Dalí Foundation. He was President of the abertis foundation from 2003 to 2012.
For his part, Leopoldo Rodés is a Law graduate and businessman. He is President of the Havas Media communications company and sits on the boards of directors of La Caixa, Prisa TV, Havas SA and Grupo Financiero INBURSA. He was Vice-President of Banco Urquijo from 1988 to 2004. He was also the founder and first President of the Family Enterprise Institute, where he still holds the post of Honorary President.
José Manuel Basáñez trained as an industrial engineer. He currently holds the posts of Deputy Vice-President of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Vice-President of Foment del Treball, Member of the World Chambers Federation General Council, and President of Saba Italia, S.p.A., as well as sitting on the boards of directors of Barcelona Port, Saba S.A. and Thyssenkrupp Elevadores S.A. In the public government arena, he has been Minister of the Economy and Finance of the Catalan Government and Vice-President of the Tax and Financial Policy Council. He is also currently Honorary Consul of the Republic of Singapore in Barcelona.
