The abertis fundation supports a seminar on telecommunications

Telecommunications and the Information and Knowledge Society (Telecomunicaciones y Sociedad de la Información y el Conocimiento) is the name of this seminar backed by the fundación abertis under the scientific coordination of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UCIIIM). The sessions take place on 28 and 29 March at the University’s Leganés Campus and their goal is to offer different perspectives (technical, social, legal, economic and business) on the role and impact of telecommunications in today’s society. For this reason, the seminar is targeted at students of and professionals in this field.

The event is structured into four sessions: Communication and society, Information management in telecommunications, Digital content protection and The economics of the Information and Knowledge Society. Participating are academics from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UCIIIM), the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and the Universidad de Vigo (UVigo). Scientific coordination of the seminars is the responsibility of Aníbal Ramón Figueiras, Professor of the Department of Signal and Communications Theory at the UCIIIM.

With this seminar on telecommunications, the fundación abertis opens its doors to a new field of knowledge. On this occasion, its has chosen as its partner the UCIIIM, which boasts a Department of Signal and Communications Theory, a centre which is a point of reference on the subject.

The fundación abertis promotes and disseminates research on the impact of infrastructures on the territory, especially on the environment, the economy and demographics. As it is a tool of the Corporate Social Responsibility Programme of abertis (a corporation that operates in the motorway, airport, telecommunications, car parking and logistics sectors), the fundación abertis links many of its actions to the corporation’s areas of activities, as is the case with the Road Safety Programme and this seminar on telecommunications.
