The abertis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report for 2007 has obtained an A+ grading, the highest granted by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the international body that has developed the world’s leading standard for sustainability reporting.

The A+ grading indicates maximum compliance with the new GRI guidelines on drawing up sustainability reports, known as G3. It also means that the information provided in the report is based on indicators verified by a independent specialist firm – PricewaterhouseCoopers, in the case of abertis.

The report includes more than 270 indicators on 21 companies in the five sectors in which the abertis group is active (motorways, telecommunications, airports, parking and logistics parts). These companies represent 96.1% of the Group’s activities.

Six years of information on abertis CSR
abertis presented information on its CSR practices for the first time in 2002, and it was in 2003 that it published its first annual sustainability report in accordance with GRI guidelines, as part of the Group’s annual report. The following year saw the first independent CSR report (separate from the abertis annual report), again according to GRI guidelines. In 2005, the main improvement lay in the verification of the report by a independent specialist company. By 2006, the report was already in line with G3.

The report for 2007 has broadened the verification scope to include all the main indicators established by the GRI. Also, in drawing it up, account has been taken of stakeholder expectations, as communicated through a variety of channels over the last two years.
