The abertis chair awards the 2nd International abertis Prize for Infrastructure Research

The 2nd International abertis Prize for Infrastructure Management was today decided in Paris, a prize which is awarded annually by the abertis Chair and recognises the best of the projects short-listed for the national prizes in Spain and France. In the doctoral thesis category, the prize was jointly awarded to Ana María Pérez and Aude Hofleitner, both with projects concerning the study of traffic.

On 16 May Ana María Pérez won the 10th abertis Prize, awarded by the abertis-UPC Chair, for her thesis on the modelling of operating speed on roads. The project by Aude Hofleitner, winner of the 2nd abertis-IFSTTAR Prize – affiliated with the École de Ponts in Paris – concerns the development of an urban traffic estimation model based on geolocation technologies. 

The International Prize in the dissertation category went to Hèctor Fornés Martínez for his project on the optimisation of luggage check-in counters at airports, which had already won the abertis-UPC Chair prize in the same category.

The prize-giving ceremony took place at the Spanish Embassy in Paris, France, an event which was attended by the Ambassador, Carlos Bastarreche, the abertis CEO, Francisco Reynés, the General Director of sanef, François Gauthey,  the Director of the abertis Chair in France, Simon Cohen, and the Director of the abertis foundation, Sergi Loughney.
