• The six involved institutions give a positive assessment of the second year of the KanGo! project, which promotes independent use of public transport by students in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district of Barcelona.
• A 2016-2017 edition is being planned. The programme aims to foster the workplace integration of young people with Down’s Syndrome and to ease traffic congestion around schools.

From the 1^st to the 3^rd of June, it took place the Academicals Session of Secoco Project “Servicios Ecosistémicos y Acción Colectiva” with the participation of twenty researchers and PhD students of different research centres related to the Cévenne’s Biosphere Reserves (France) and Montseny’s Biosphere Reserve (Spain).

During the 24th and 25th of May, in the UNESCO International Centre for the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves, it celebrated the Doctorial Sessions: Applied Researches in the Natural Protected Areas of UNESCO (Biosphere Reserves and Geoparks): Morocco – France – Spain. In this academic act participated twenty researchers, between PhD students and their professors and supervisors of different institutions and universities (“Institut de Ciencia i Tecnologia Ambiental de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona” (ICTA-UAB); University Cadi Ayyad (UCA) of Marrakesh, and the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN) of Paris) with the aim of presenting seven different PhD thesis related with the Biosphere Reserves and Geoparks, both are Protection Figures of UNESCO.

• This year’s XIII Abertis Prize awarded by the Abertis-UPC Chair has gone to PhD. Carlos Llorca García (Universitat Politècnica de València) for his work entitled Analysis of the vehicle overtakings in conventional roads and modelling proposal for the improvement of their design and signposting.
• In the Master category, the prize has gone to Meritxell Pacheco Paneque (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and her dissertation entitled Traffic parameters estimations from the analysis of connected vehicles data.
• A total of 37 candidacies for both prizes (17 for the category of Doctoral Thesis and 20 for the category of Shorter Dissertation, End of Degree or Master Projects), the highest number in the 13 years of life of this Abertis Prize.
• The Minister of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia, Josep Rull; the Chairman of Abertis, Salvador Alemany; and the Rector of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Prof. Enric Fossas, have awarded the prizes to the winners.

• The work of Pablo Picasso can be viewed in the city of São Paulo from 22 May until 14 August 2016.
• Entitled “Picasso: Erudite Hand, Wild Eye”, the exhibition features 116 works by the artist, the vast majority unseen in Brazil, and 37 by other artists with a connection to the Spanish painter.

• The Abertis Foundation has garnered the accolade for its work in furthering the social and workplace integration of young people with Down’s Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities in recent years.
• Abertis and its Foundation employ six young people with an intellectual disability in Madrid. The Group employs 31 people with a disability across Spain as a whole.
• The Abertis Foundation runs the Roadside Assistant project in Madrid, which encompasses road safety, education and social action through the workplace integration of people with Down’s Syndrome.
