The abertis chair in Puerto Rico is now a reality. The CEO of abertis, Francisco Reynés, signed the agreement with the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) during an event held on the island, in which the head of the Department of Civil Engineering at the Mayagüez Campus (RUM) was appointed director of the chair. Also in attendance were Sergi Loughney, Director of the abertis foundation; Miguel A. Muñoz, President of the University of Puerto Rico, and Jorge Rivera Santos, Rector of the RUM.
In the words of Francisco Reynés, “In Professor Colucci, we have a professional with an impeccable reputation and career, who will undoubtedly help us to drive the abertis foundation’s mission of promoting research on the impact of large infrastructure works on the land and contributing to the search for solutions that will improve the quality of life of all Puerto Ricans.”
The creation of this new chair underscores the company’s commitment to the world of academia, following the UPC-abertis chair in Transport Infrastructure Management; the IESE-abertis chair in Regulation, Powers and Public Policy; the ESADE-abertis chair in Leaderships and Democratic Governance; the FEDEA-abertis chair in Infrastructure and Transport Economics; and the chaire abertis-École des Ponts ParisTech-IFSTTAR (Institut Français des Sciences et Technologies des Transports, de l’Aménagement et des Réseaux).
