The 1st International Conference on Science and Research in, for and with UNESCO Biosphere Reserves has been held in the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve (Germany) from May 16-20, 2022, and has been organized by the Institute for Biosphere Reserves (Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development).

The International Center for Biosphere Reserves of the Mediterranean (UNESCOMED Centre) has participated in the Conference as an example of good practice, presenting itself as a Category II Center (CC2) under the auspices of UNESCO that offers a unique platform for research , networking, transfer and monitoring of BRs in the Mediterranean, expandable beyond the Mediterranean BRs.

One of the main strategic lines of UNESCOMED is the promotion and development of interdisciplinary applied research on the social, economic and environmental aspects of the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves. And as proof of this, one of the researchers attached to the International University Campus of Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves of the UNESCOMED Center, Mari Carmen Romera, has also presented part of the results of her doctoral research on inclusive governance at the RB Arganeraie, in Morocco.
