Castellet castle, a sustainable place

-Castellet Castle secures ISO 14001 certification

-It thus culminates the process of implementing its EMS, which ensures compliance with applicable environmental legislation

Castellet Castle, headquarters of the abertis foundation, has achieved 14001:2004 certification from certification body Applus. This “stamp” represents the culmination of the process of implementing the Environmental Management System (EMS) developed for the fortress and started up in 2007. The EMS ensures compliance with all applicable environment-related legislation, as well as the identification, control and minimisation of any negative impact that activities carried on in the Castle may have on the environment.

The EMS has meant there has been a need to identify the environmental aspects of the Castle and to document the mechanisms to control them. At the same time, environmental regulations are periodically reviewed to guarantee compliance with legislation at all times.

Implementation of the EMS has meant the involvement of the abertis foundation staff team, which has received training on the EMS prior to their assuming responsibilities within the organisation.

Castellet Castle is a 10th-century fortress in the village of Castellet i la Gornal (Barcelona), close to Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú. Activities carried out there include working meetings and a range of cultural activities (conferences, book launches, concerts, etc.), in addition to a programme of guided tours during the weekend.
