L’Illa Diagonal is, from today and until 20 October, the venue for the exhibition Camins d’Emocions (Roads of Emotions), which contains images of the 2004 Badalona Special Olympics. The exhibition, in which abertis has collaborated with the Games’ Organising Committee, reflects the experiences, emotions and the mission to excel of all the participants in the Special Olympics.

The Special Olympics is an event encouraging sports amongst those with intellectual disabilities and which, on this occasion, brought together in June some 2,000 athletes from 20 countries.

The opening of the exhibition, held today in Barcelona, was attended by the Minister of Welfare and the Family of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Anna Simó, and abertis Managing Director Salvador Alemany, amongst other personalities from the worlds of sport, society and culture.

Qualities such as solidarity, mutual respect and confidence in the future are reflected in this exhibition, which shows how its subjects aim to live and develop their lives through sport.

Keeping the commitment

During the opening ceremony, Minister of Welfare and the Family encouraged all companies to “keep the commitment” with social responsibility and, like abertis, to become involved in the progress of society. She also urged companies to join forces with the authorities and with society itself to ensure “continued progress” in this valuable task.

Opening up roads

For his part, abertis MD Salvador Alemany, also stressed the need for companies to participate and become involved in social responsibility, and advocated “opening up roads” in the area and “always keeping alight the Olympic torch” of solidarity, as is the case with the exhibition Camins d’Emocions.

This initiative supported by abertis forms part of the corporation’s strategy of commitment to society, the environment and people via its Corporate Social Responsibility Programmes.
