This summer, Barcelona City Council, the abertis foundation and the El Llindar Foundation are carrying out an environmental awareness campaign on the beaches of Barcelona to provide work and training to young people in a precarious social or personal position.
The councillor for the Environment and Urban Services at Barcelona City Council, Joan Puigdollers, the director of the abertis foundation, Sergi Loughney, the director of the El Llindar Foundation, Begonya Gasch, and the chief executive of Siresa, Miguel Ángel Clavero, have today signed a collaboration agreement to implement the initiative from today, 1 July, until the end of September.
The initiative will see four young people from the El Llindar Foundation provide information to beachgoers over the summer about caring for the environment and about making appropriate use of their surroundings. The information will cover civic issues, such as the importance of helping keep beaches clean, as well as the need to respect the coast as a natural conservation area.
The collaboration will take place on beaches in Barcelona (Bogatell, Barceloneta, Llevant and Sant Sebastià) as well as in the neigbouring coastal towns of El Prat, Gavà, Castelldefels and Viladecans.
