Discussing the future of archaeological parks and their role as instruments for socio-economic development in a determined territory is the main objective of the 4^th Conference on Sustainable Heritage Management which will take place next Friday, November 12^th at the installations of the Círculo Ecuestre in Barcelona.

The conference, organised by the abertis foundation, will be coordinated by Jordi Juan Tresserras, of the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera. It is set in the framework of the twentieth anniversary of the Programme of Archaeological Parks of the Ministry of Culture and will count on the participation of notable experts in the matter, including the director-general of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets of the Ministry of Culture, Julián Martínez and of the director-general of heritage of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Francesc Tarrats.

The main point is the inclusion of archaeological parks into policies and strategies of local and regional tourist planning, both in emergent areas inland and mature destinations on the coast. It is not in vain, that eight of the 38 World Heritage sites in the country correspond to archaeological sites and places.

With this conference, the abertis foundation consolidates its decision to organise events that enable knowledge about sustainable management to be disseminated, which includes knowledge about assets that generate wealth for a territory, such as archaeological parks, and is yet another sign of the company’s commitment to the world of culture.
