Abertis, with TV3 Marathon

-abertis telecom collaborated by offering, free of charge, the necessary mobile link services for broadcasting the programme

-The funds donated in this edition of the tele-marathon will be used for research into chronic pain

The Corporación abertis has collaborated again with the Marathon offered by TV3 which, in its fifteenth edition, was dedicated to chronic pain. This initiative by the autonomous region’s television has a double objective: to create awareness among the general public about illnesses that affect thousands of people and for which a cure has not yet been found, and to promote biomedical research.

abertis telecom has supported this solidarity tele-marathon since its first edition in 1992. This time, the collaboration was centred on offering the necessary mobile link services for carrying out the live disconnections from the centres where the phone calls were being taken, in the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, the Palacio Ferial in Girona and the Port of Tarragona. A link was also installed in the helicopter and another in the cameras that travelled along the zip-line set up between Torre Mapfre and Hotel Arts in Barcelona. Overon, a subsidiary of abertis telecom, offered these services free of charge.

The Managing Director of abertis telecom, Tobías Martínez, was one of the volunteers who answered the phone to the general public who made their donations over the phone. The Corporación abertis also made a significant economic contribution.

TV3’s Fundación La Marató collected some 6,500 million euros thanks to the multiple solidarity activities promoted and the donations of the general public and of organisations. These funds will be destined to promoting biomedical research projects into chronic pain.
