Abertis is the only Spanish company from its sector, infrastructure management, to be in-cluded as a leading player in the prestigious RobecoSAM Sustainability Yearbook. Thanks to its extensive Corporate Social Responsibility policy, Abertis has been present for more than a decade in the world’s leading sustainability indices, and according to Sergi Loughney, Abertis’ Director of Institutional Relations and head of the Abertis Foundation: “the recent designa-tion of Castellet Castle, headquarters of the Abertis Foundation, as the UNESCO Centre on Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves further underscores the Abertis Group’s steadfast com-mitment to the environment.”
RobecoSAM, specialist Sustainability Investing manager, is on the board of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which includes those companies with the best corporate sustaina-bility criteria in the world. Abertis has been present for seven years in the DJSI, a testament to the Group’s ongoing work and the dedication of efforts and resources to continuously im-prove its sustainable actions, and develop new sustainable practices and best corporate prac-tices predicated on economic, social and environmental criteria. Abertis structures these initia-tives through the Social Responsibility Strategic Plan applied to its various business units.
Abertis’ commitment to society, culture and the environment is channelled through the Abertis Foundation, which promotes research into the impact of large infrastructures as well as environmental issues, social initiatives and road safety in all the countries and markets where the company operates.
