Abertis sponsors the first retrospective of the artist Joan Miró to ever travel to Brazil

Abertis, through its subsidiary in Brazil, Arteris, sponsors the first retrospective of Joan Miró to travel to Brazil ever. The exhibition is titled “Joan Miró. A força da matéria” and gathers a total of 114 works by the artist, including paintings, drawings, sculptures and graphic artworks made between 1931 and 1981. These works are part of the collections of the Fundació Joan Miró (66 of the total), and those of private individuals.

The title and the selection of works highlights Miró’s will of achieving the purity of art by exploring beyond conventional painting. The exhibition shows the constant experimentation with techniques, supports and different procedures that led him to the development of a new culture of matter.

This is the first exhibition ever organised by the Fundació Joan Miró in Brazil. It will open from May 24 to August 16 in the Tomie Ohtake Institute in São Paulo and, from September 2nd to November 15, in the Museu de Arte de Santa Catarina in the city of Florianópolis.

Representatives from Abertis, Arteris, and the organizers- Instituto Ohtake and Joan Miró Foundation, attended the event organized for the opening in São Paulo on 21th may.

David Díaz, Chief Executive Officer of Arteris, emphasised the importance of Arteris commitment to culture, -with Dali’s retrospective in 2014, and now with Joan Miró’s exhibition-, to reinforce the image of Arteris as a company dedicated to the toll roads management in the most efficient and sustainable way, keeping at the same time its commitment to the Corporate Social Responsibility among the territories in which it is present and to the communities with which it works.

Ricardo Ohtake, chairman of the Tomie Ohtake Institute, which hosts the exhibition in São Paulo, expressed his gratitude to Abertis and its subsidiary Arteris for their commitment to culture, setting them as an example for other companies in Brazil.

Rosa Maria Malet, director of Fundació Joan Miró, highlighted the importance of the retrospective:
Joan Miró. A força da matéria is the first exhibition organized by the Fundació Joan Miró in Brazil. For the team of the Fundació is a stimulating challenge to bring the work of the artist to the public from other countries, a project that goes beyond the exhibition proposal: more than one hundred works of its collection and of the Miró family will discover to the visitors the constant experimentation of the artist with various techniques, supports and procedures, based on his personal use of the matter”.
Finally, Sergi Loughney, director of the Abertis Foundation, underlined the importance of the Corporate Social Responsibility for Abertis, developed in different areas, such as culture, environment protection and social action through the road safety awareness and the fight to reduce accidents rate in the roads, a priority in all the countries where Abertis is present.
