The results of the 2010 Review confirm that abertis has retained its listing in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI World) and also, on a European level, the DJSI Stoxx Index.
Once again, abertis has been given a score above the average in the three sectors ranked: economic, environmental and social. The company achieved top scores in the environmental information and climate change strategy categories, and significantly improved its position in areas such as codes of conduct and operational eco-efficiency. The DJSI World and DJSI Stoxx reviews will become effective on 20 September 2010.
For its 2010 Review, DJSI World, which lists the top 10% of companies throughout the world with the best corporate sustainability criteria, sent invitations to 2,500 companies, of which 318 were finally selected. In the case of DJSI Stoxx, the European index that covers the top 20% companies in terms of sustainability, 157 companies were selected from the 600 that were initially invited. abertis‘ presence on both these international sustainability indexes is the result of the Group’s consistent hard work and its dedication of efforts and resources towards maintaining its advances in sustainable actions, as well as the company’s good business practices in the economic, social and environmental sectors. abertis‘ actions in this respect are structured by its Strategic Social Responsibility Plan which is implemented in its different business divisions.
As a reflection of its commitment to the environment and to its various interest groups, abertis supports the abertis foundation. The main objective of the foundation is to study the impact of infrastructures on the land.
