The abertis Group will today present a new abertis chair in Transport Infrastructure Management, created in conjunction with the University of Chile’s Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics. The presentation event will take place this afternoon at the Spanish Embassy in Chile and will be attended by the Ambassador, Íñigo de Palacios; abertis‘ CEO, Francisco Reynés; the Director of the University of Chile’s Engineering School, James McPhee, on behalf of Francisco Brieva, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics; the Director of the abertis chair in Chile, Sergio Jara; the President of the Official Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Chile, José María Castillero; and the Spanish Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Advisor, José Antonio García.
The new abertis-University of Chile chair, just like its counterparts in Spain, France and Puerto Rico, will focus its activity on training and research in transport infrastructure management and will see the participation of students, researchers, professors and professionals in this field. Doctor Sergio Jara, Professor of Transport Economics at the University of Chile, will be the Director of this new chair.
The abertis group, aware of the importance of links with the academic world for social and economic progress, has been promoting training, research and knowledge transfer between universities and the business world since 2003. The abertis group’s international network of specialised chairs will shortly be expanded through the creation of the abertis chair in Brazil, coinciding with the recent acquisition of OHL Brasil, which made abertis the world leader in its sector.
